Traditional Gotta patti work of Jaipur



I learned some key points to keep in mind when purchasing the” Gotta patti” work while in Jaipur and would like to share it with friends

 A small briefing about the work :
The “Gotta patti” work is the rich golden fabric embroidery of the royal Rajasthan .
The work requires a detailed craftmanship with the small pieces of  golden zari ribbon and fabric used for this is mainly
The best thing about this work is it can be done on any fabric since it is very light in weight ,it looks great on chiffon and georgettes’ .
The USP of the “Gotta patti” work is that it is light from the inside ands looks very heavy and filling on the outside suiting the taste of the all Indian wearers of heavy and shiny works
While purchasing the fabric ensure is it the handmade work of gotta work or Patch work
The “Gotta patti” work that is done by hand is more fine and intricate and requires skilled craftsmanship ,which is why it is comparatively costlier than the readymade work that comes in the form of standard format of lace as shown below

  A saree with the  gotta patch patti with a 4 ' border can range from Rs. 3000 and beyond as the “Gotta patti” comes for Rs.200 a metr of a 4 ' border width, if teamed with the kundan work the saree can range higher  depending on the fabric used

 A saree with the handmade work can range anything   depending on the other embroidery it is teamed up with like kundan work or zardozi etc.
